Course Aims
This course will familiarise you with changes in truck technology and the contribution of speed in traffic accidents. It also provides you with hints and tips on driving in bad weather, identifying vulnerable road users and what you need to do to ensure that you are fit to drive.
Course Content
This course covers the following subjects
- Fitness to drive, health and hygiene
- Truck Technology
- Speed and its contribution to accidents
- Stop distance awareness
- Speed limits and speed cameras
- Speed limiters and speed enforcement
- Driving in bad weather
- Vulnerable road users
- The course content is derived from RHA Module 10 – Accident Procedures and Driving in Poor Weather and RHA Module 11 – Fitness to Drive and Vulnerable Road Users
Objectives
Upon completion of the course you will;
- Understand the importance of being fit to drive.
- Have an awareness of speed and its potential contribution to traffic accidents.
- Be familiar with the new truck technologies and their advantages and disadvantages.
- Understand the issues and safety aspects of driving in poor weather conditions.
- Gain knowledge of different types of vulnerable road user.
Classroom – Maximum 10 people
