Course Duration: 7 hours

Course Aims

This course will enable you to develop your knowledge and understanding of how health & safety regulations work and will show you how to protect yourself in the environments you operate in. You will also be taught the causes of and symptoms of fatigue and to understand sleep disorders.

Course Content

This course covers the following subjects

• The basic principles of Health & Safety at Work
• Safety on site and Safe Manoeuvring
• Use of Trained Banksman
• Working at Height – slips, trips and falls
• The basic principles of Manual Handling
• Personal Protective Equipment
• Driver tiredness consequences and sleep requirements
• Sleep Apnoea, sleep myths and Common sense
• The course content is derived from RHA Module 5 – Health & Safety Awareness for Goods Vehicle Drivers and RHA Module 4– Safe Loading and Unloading of Goods Vehicles.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course you will;

• Have a better understanding of the legal requirements for Health & Safety at work.
• Understand the powers and H&S documentation the authorities have available to them.
• Know how to reverse vehicles safely and carry out manual handling safely.
• Understand the potential dangers of driver fatigue.
